Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Beijing - Bangalore
Take your flight from Beijing and arrive in Bangalore on day 2
Day 2 - Bangalore - Chennai (L,D)
Meet at the Taj West end at 4pm for check in formalities followed by a tea and brief presentation. then visit the art gallery followed by a cultural program. At 08pm arrive at Yeshwantpur railway station, platform No.6 and get a traditional Indian welcome. Dinner on board of The Golden Chariot. Departure to Chennai at 10pm.
Day 3 - Chennai - Mahabalipuram (B,L,D)
Arrive at Chennai Railway Station early in the morning, have your breakfast and set off for a drive through the Beach road. You will then visit St.Thomas church, the Cholamandala art village and its art and sculpture galleries. Lunch at GRT Temple Bay hotel. Then guided tour of Five Ratha’s Temple, Shore Shiva Temple and the caves. Dinner on board the Golden Chariot. Depart to Pondicherry.
Day 4 - Pondicherry (B,L,D)
At 08am arrive at Pondicherry, situated towards the north of Tamil Nadu. Due to the influence of French colonies in the past, Pondicherry has quite a few specimens of French heritage as well. Till today, French is commonly spoken and even the roadways have signposts written in French. Visit the Auroville village, founded by the great revolutionary Indian philosopher Aurobindo around 1920, based on the concept of peace. Take your lunch onboard The Golden Chariot, then visit the French town, do some shopping or take a stroll on the pristine beach. In the evening, reach the Eco-Dune resort for cultural show followed by dinner. At 11pm depart for Trichy.
Day 5 - Trichy (B,L,D)
Arrive in Trichy in the early morning. After breakfast visit the Brihadeshwara temple, UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is quite an experience to explore the Thanjuvar paintings preserved in the museum of the Tanjore Palace constructed partly by the Nayaks and partly by the Marathas. Today enjoy your lunch at Sangam Hotel then drive back to Trichy. Dinner onboard The Golden Chariot and later depart to Madurai.
Day 6 - Madurai (B,L,D)
After breakfast, visit the Meenakshi temple of Madurai. One of the finest works of art of Dravidian architecture, this temple is special for the heavenly beauty of the main Hall standing on a thousand pillars.Then take a look at Madurai market. After your lunch onboard The Golden Chariot, spend an hour shopping at Poompuhar Handicrafts Emporium. Tonight at 06pm enjoy a light & sound show at the Thirumalai Nayakar Mahal. Dinner and traditional folk art show at The Heritance.
Day 7 - Kanyakumari - Thiruvananthapuram - Kovalam (B,L,D)
Depart to Thiruvananthapuram in the early morning. During the day journey enjoy the scenic beauty of the remote locales of Tamilnadu and Kerala. Arrive at Thiruvananthapuram around noon and visit the city. Today your lunch will be served onboard. In the late afternoon stroll along Kovalam beach. This evening, gala dinner and cultural show at The Taj Green Cove Resort, Kovalam. Overnight in the train while it departs for Alleppey.
Day 8 - Kovalam - Alleppey - Cochin (B,L,D)
After breakfast it is time to enjoy the thrill of a backwater cruise in Alleppey on an houseboat. Lunch will be served at the Poonamallee restaurant. You arrive at Kochi at 3pm. Visit the synagogue, the church and the Dutch palace at Fort Kochi. In the late afternoon, sunset cruise followed by gala dinner and cultural show at the Brunton boatyard. At 11pm depart to Bangalore.
Day 9 - Bangalore - Beijing (B)
Last breakfast onboard. Arrival at Yeshwanthpur railway station and farewell by the entire crew. Take your flight back to Beijing.
